The name of our blog was inspired by the Pop Goes the Page exhibit at the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library at the University of Virginia. The exhibit premiered in May 2000, and featured moveable and mechanical books from the Brenda Forman Collection, not to mention an incredibly snazzy title.
Fast forward to 2013, my work at Princeton University Library, and the task of naming a new blog. What could be a more perfect phrase for expressing the joy, creativity, and dynamism of art from books than Pop Goes the Page? Thankfully, the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library Director Nicole L. Bouché and Exhibit Coordinator Heather Riser agreed, and our blog was born.
How fitting! A blog that aims to inspire others began with an inspiration from another!
